Day 1: Ronda – Montejaque. Lenght: 12 km, Ascent: 250 m

Visit the nice historical city of Ronda hooked on vertical rocky cliff. Walking along a traditional path that peddlers used to bring news, messages or food from Ronda to Montejaque and other villages around, we first get nice views of Ronda from the river and Tajo’s watermills. Then we go through the orchards and olive groves to finally enter the first karsts landscapes and keep as far as Montejaque.

Day 2: Montejaque – Grazalema. Length: 17 km, Ascent: +180 m, -320m.

Nice easy walk along the river Guadiares and through the cork oak forest. Songbirds melt in the riverbank forest and the cork tres and the atmosphere is truly alive and relaxing. In spring, bee-eaters add on with their beautiful colours. The artistic ambiance of cork tree is a sign of more acidic land on this eastern side of the mountain range.

Day 3: Grazalema – Villaluenga Del Rosario – Benaocaz. Length: 17 km, Ascent: +350 m.

Another alternative to walk between Grazalema and Benaocaz. A nice diversity of landscape from the cork tree forest to the Holm and Portuguese oak forest, karsts formation on steeper slopes, bright green plains, wood pasture… And another nice white village well known for local cheese with the only pastors school.

Day 4: Benocaz – Grazalema. Length: 15 km, Ascent: + 370m

The peaceful Sierra del Endrinal. From the Nazarí neighbourhood of Benaocaz, Muslim heritage, we get lost in the mountains in the middle of the Portuguese oaks or Holm oak woodlands, step on green and flowery meadows (orchids, endemic flowers as Grazalema’s orange poppy) surrounded by cattle’s, sheeps or goats… We might surprise the wild mountain goats in their daily transhumance. Several snow pits (old reserve of ice to supply cities and villages) remind us of a traditional business practice.

Day 5: Grazalema – Benamahoma – El Bosque. Length: about 19 km, Ascent: -370m

Let’s travel through the time back to glacial age! Get into the Spanish fir forest and some of the nicest landscape of the biosphere reserve, ending this trip walking down along the river Majaceite, its dense vegetation, waterfalls and pools.

Day 6: El Bosque – Garganta Verde – Zahara de La Sierra. Length: 7 km, Ascent: + 200m, -200m

Get into the heart of spectacular gorges (Garganta verde) all the way down to the river Bocaleones with dense vegetation on its riverbanks to feel a bit in a tropical atmosphere while the huge cave we end to, the Hermitage, is a huge vault overrun with stalactites and stalagmites pinkish tones. We take the opportunity to visit Zahara de la Sierra, one of the most beautiful villages in Andalusia. On the morning, in El Bosque, we can visit the native plants botanic garden and the restored watermill.
